Susanna Brown is a curator and writer specialising in the connected histories of photography, fashion and magazine publishing. The author of numerous books, she presents lectures around the world and features in television broadcasts, radio programmes, and podcasts.
She built her expertise working in London’s National Portrait Gallery and the V&A, where, as Senior Curator of Photography, her role included making acquisitions for the collection, writing publications, and creating exhibitions. The acclaimed exhibitions she has curated have travelled to more than twenty venues globally including the V&A, J. Paul Getty Museum, and the Salvador Dalí Museum.
Susanna has been a judge for prestigious prizes including The Hasselblad Foundation International Award in Photography; The Google Photography Prize; London Independent Photography Awards; and Aesthetica Art Prize, and an invited portfolio reviewer at events including Fotofest, US; Le Mois de la Photo, Canada; Skåne Fotografi I Fokus, Sweden; and Hyères Fashion and Photography Festival, France. She is Curatorial Advisor to The George Hoyningen-Huene Estate.
